Coulson was not supposed to be here. Or at least not for long. The plan was to show up just long enough to say hi and surprise his daughter with the part where he's off early (or as off as he ever is anyway). Then he got sidelined when he walked in, got sidelined again after getting a location, and got sidelined yet again when he went to where she had been (but wasn't anymore, apparently). Now he's been here almost forty minutes and has no idea where to look.

Because they are children and apparently he gets to play babysitter when he comes to visit.

He isn't stopping for anything else, though. He is going to find his daughter and no superhero, spy, overgrown children, or mixture thereof is going to stop him.

... It's a nice thought, really it is. Just an unlikely one.


Clint may have been part of why Coulson kept getting sidetracked, but even annoying his favorite handler/boss/overseer of all things Avenger is only entertaining for so long. He's up on the roof now. He likes the roof, and that's pretty visible from the amount of things up there that are his: targets and a few discarded arrows from prototypes that really weren't worth the time to fix up, balls that can either be tossed as targets or just tossed around for the hell of it, a gameboy that's basically been given up to the roof since he keeps forgetting it up here.

He's ignoring all that right now, though, for playing a balancing act on the edge of the roof, his eyes on his feet. His quiver and bow are slung over his shoulder, so he can grab one of the appropriate arrows if he missteps -- but he's pretty confident that he won't.


And Steve, well, he has a television. He's not entirely comfortable with how much down-time being a superhero leads to, but it's certainly helped in the whole 'get Captain America familiar with current pop culture' campaign half the team seems to have launched.

He's not actually watching anything in particular, just flipping through channels until something looks interesting. Mostly he is watching commercials or news stories. Somehow getting himself familiar with the news and the products feels a little more useful than getting himself familiar with the media in general.

There are puppy-dog eyes. They're not really a concious gesture, more directed at the TV than at her, but... he was watching that.

...He didn't really expect it would be staying on once she walked in the room, though, so he smiles a second later, making a move towards the end of the couch so that he's not taking up most of it anymore.

"Hi," he says, glancing at the TV again. "I didn't know you were here."

"Surprise!" She grins, throwing her hands up in the air before grabbing some of the popcorn. "I'm helping Pepper out with some stuff Tony dumped on her but we're breaking for the day."

She flips through more channels, making aface after a couple of moments. "Man,there's nothing on. How do you guys have like a thousand channels and still have this problem?"

"I don't know?" He frowns, blinking at her and then at the television. "What do you like to watch?"

"Stuff," she says helpfully. "Movies mostly. I'm bad at committing to TV."She looks at him. "What about you?"

He shrugs, smiling a little. "I'm not sure. We didn't have television before I..." There's a handgesture, which does half-decently to say crashed and got encased in ice and woke up seventy years later. "And there wasn't a lot of time for movies when I was fighting. Or a lot of money for it before then. I liked the monster movies. King Kong, Dracula. I guess I'm still figuring out what I like now that it's easy to get it."

She considers this for a moment, then her eyes light up."I have the best idea."

She's grinning, nearly pouncing on Steve. "We should have a movie night. C'mon, We can do one movie you like and then one movie you need to see. I bet Tony has a projector somewhere, so we could do it outside."

He laughs when she nearly pounces on him, caught up a little in her sudden excitement. "What, tonight? Or sometime?"

"Do you want to do it tonight? I can totally harass Tony into getting it set up tonight. You can make popcorn, right? We need epic amounts of popcorn."

Don't mind the bouncy girl who is nearly in your lap, Steve, she just thinks a movie night with Captain America would be awesome.

He really doesn't. He's not sure why she's quite this enthusiastic or why she's nearly in his lap, but both of those are things he can go with.

He smiles wider, and nods. "Okay, tonight. I can do the popcorn."

It's because, at heart, she is her father's daughter, fanboying aspects and all.

"Awesome! This is going to be so cool. I have to come up a list of movies you need to see. And you have to come up with on too! There will be movies for eeeveryone!"

He's still not got his mind around the part where people fanthing over him, though. Especially not their handler/SHIELD liason and his daughter.

"Are we letting everyone in on the selection process, or were you planning on surprising them with your list?"

"Oooh, that's a good question. What do you think?" She tosses a few kernels of popcorn into the air, only catching one of them and letting the others rain don on top of them.

"Tony might get a choice, since he has to get us the movies in the first place but I don't know about everyone else."

"I'm sure someone else has ideas," he says, sticking out his palm to catch one of her falling kernels and sticking it in his mouth.

"We'll let 'em know and see who has suggestions. You'll get final pick on what we play, though," he adds with a smile.

"Yes!" She gets to her feet, igging out her phone and shooting out an email announcing movie night. "If they don't have anything by tonight, it's their own damn fault."

He laughs, nodding his agreement. "With this group, though? I'm sure there'll be something."

"oh, there totally will be," she agrees. "But you never know." She's bouncing on the balls of her feet, grinning like she' just downed a cup of coffee.

"Think I can get my dad to come? We used to do movie nights a long time ago with popcorn balls and ice cream. he'd love doing it again."

"I think it's worth a try. He works a lot, though, right?" He doesn't talk to Coulson that often, mostly sees him in passing when he comes by for something, or because of one SHIELD thing or another, but the man hardly ever seems to be on a break. He shrugs. "If you can get him to, it'd be good to have him come."

"You're going to be there. I can definitely get him to at least drop by and make sure that we're not ruining your poor virgin brain." She winks at him.

He looks a little embarrassed, but not nearly as he might have at that comment a couple of weeks ago. "Well, that'll get him here. We'll work on keeping him here after."

[theytookmyipod]

"Yes!" And with that,she moves, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. "Thank! This is going to be so, so awesome. You won't regret it,I swear."

"I don't think I will," he agrees, wrapping her briefly in a one-armed hug before giving her a very light nudge in the shoulder. "Go talk to Tony. I think I need to get to the store if we want popcorn."

"And candy," she says eagerly. "And...I don't know, whatever you ate at movies in the 40's."

[roomforonemore]

"Popcorn," he informs her with a laugh. "Mostly we ate popcorn. Any kind of candy?"

"Twizzlers. And chocolate. Lots of chocolate." She's realy way too exited for this but it's going to be so much fun.

"You got it." He's a little bit excited himself as he moves off of the couch, even if he's a lot calmer about it than she is. It does sound like a good way to spend the night.
